Windmills were an essential component for the New Catalonia, in the hands of the Clergy or secular lordships, but never in the peasants, were a model of social cohertion on the farmers. With the income in control of work were a key instrument to strengthen the relationship between Lords and Vassals. The deterioration of these relations by the abuse of power will be constant until the second half of the XVIIIth Century, especially at the beginning of the XIXth century, which repealed the old regime, and changes of ownership are then possible as the mills enter into the free-competition. Operation The mill is nourished by the flow of water. The flow of water was stuck in a lock and conducted by an irrigation channel to the mill pond, which acts as a deposit. From there jumped and had to move a gear, this movement is transmitted to the top, often with a belt. In this part there are the moles, the one below remains steady, while the one above, turns and grinds the grain which stays between the two moles. The mechanisms of movement and grinding were placed in a chamber with two heights. Finally the water was returned to its course. The water was sometimes used for irrigation also. This mill had been property of the Order of the Hospital and bought later by owners of "Pinell", "Prat de Comte" and "Gandesa", finally went to the Puey family.
